Third week at USA TODAY

I met with the science writer, Dan Vergano, and we discussed his upcoming article about summer stargazing for USA TODAY Weekend. I am writing the sidebar for the article, so check back for the article!

I attended an intern chat session about mobile video tips. And I wrote a recap of the session for the intern Tumblr.

Meetings, meetings, meetings for this Hump Day. First there was a meeting with the other intern, Alex Laughlin, to pick out photos and stories for next week’s Timehop. Then there was a Spredfast training meeting for the USA TODAY Money section. Spredfast is one of the tools I’ve been using during the internship. It allows you to manage and queue posts for several social platforms from one place — much like Hootsuite.

I organized weekend content on Facebook with Mary, wrote a dozen Tweets for the weekend and scheduled posts for G+, LinkedIn and Tumblr. It’s very interesting to schedule content for the future, but it is very important to keep your newsfeeds fresh for readers. They want to see constantly updated feeds or they lose interest and confidence in the media organization.

This week is Intern Week on Tumblr — so check out what the social media marketing intern and I are doing on the USA TODAY Tumblr!

This week is also my fourth and final week with USA TODAY! Check back for updates and read my stories hereKeep track of my tweets here.
